The Young Finnish Accordionists consist of Finland’s most capable young accordion players, most of whom are music students from various Finnish institutions. The gathering of accordionists as accomplished as these is unprecedented and remarkable even on an international scale. The orchestra’s concerts have been well-received, and even in its short history can it claim among its accolades first prize in 2011 at the prestigious Pula accordion orchestra competition in Croatia. The orchestra has received international attention for its energetic, artistic works and its diverse repertoire.

In her performances, Soprano Annika Mylläri rises to meet every musical challenge. The evening’s concert will feature Verdi’s and Bellini’s classic arias accompanied by an accordion orchestra. Winter Accordion welcomes all to an outstanding musical experience, where we will also hear specially arranged music performed by Veli Kulias Two.

Thurs 19.2 Kulkuri ja metsälampi

Kokkola City Theater, Katariinan kamari 18.30

”Kulkuri ja metsälampi” is a dramatic collaboration consisting of Keke Lammassaari’s spoken-word performance to the musical accompaniment of Tapio Miettinen. The combination of monologue and the soft tones of a two-row accordion make for a moving musical experience. The two men got their starts in Rovaniemi but ultimately crossed paths in Kokkola. Onstage they are present and honest in their performances.
”This is a love-song by a depressed bum about depression and how it is to live with the disorder. Can a depressed man love and be loved?”

In Under a Paris Sky, Jorma Uotinen and his accompanying musicians will transport us to the cafes of St. Germain, all the way to the Siene. Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Leo Ferre, Juliette Greco – the immortals of the French chanson tradition still inspire singers today. We’ll also hear evergreens such as La Vie en Rose, Ne me quitte pas, Avec le temps and Il n’y a plus d’apres. “In my interpretations I strive, with the help of the music and the feelings it evokes, to tap into the listener’s inner-most feelings of love, joy and sorrow. The concert is a way to see and interpret the world, life and ourselves. ” Jorma Uotinen

The performance will run 1 hour and 15 minutes without intermission
